Meet the Team

Dr. Keith is an Honor Graduate of Eastern Kentucky University (Chemistry and Biology) and Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed Master’s degree work at The College of William and Mary. Additionally, he has an M.B.A. and a Master’s Degree in Economics. His professional interests are: Eye Disease and Surgery, Cardiology and Reptile Medicine.

Outside the office, Dr. Keith enjoys racing bicycles, marathons, Ironman triathlons, tennis, reading, music and spending time with his children (Harrison, Ellen, and Mary Ryan)

Additionally, he has served on many boards including the Lexington Humane Society, the Woodford Humane Society, Boy Scouts of America, and Woodford County Hospital, He has coached many youth sports and taught many fitness courses.

Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Woodford Health Foundation, is on the Board of Directors for Woodford County Parks and Recreation, and teaches triathlon courses and SPINNING classes. He is married to Laurie Ann Whelan, has 3 children Harrison, Ellie, and Ryan. Along with a dog Hudson (Golden Retriever).

Dr. Hancock is a graduate of Woodford County High School, Western Kentucky University and Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. She has had a passion for animals since she was very young and her dream of becoming a veterinarian has come true. She shares her home with her 3 dogs – Gatsby (Aussie),  Prince (Corgi), and Booker (Golden Retriever). Her and her husband Chris welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Caroline, in February of 2022 and their second daughter Chandler in  December of 2024. In her free time, Dr. Hancock and husband Chris love to travel, hike, cook, and visit craft breweries.

Dr. Mary Barling and her husband graduated from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1987 and immediately moved to Woodford County, Kentucky. Mary worked at Frankfort Animal Clinic for 5 years before opening a practice at her home, mainly working on dogs, cats and horses. She, along with her husband, returned to Texas in 1995 and she worked in a mixed animal practice for 18 years, while raising her son and daughter. She then had a mobile house-call practice for 5 years, working with pets and an array of farm animals too. She and her husband returned to Woodford County in 2020, purchasing a small farm and starting to build yet another beef cattle herd. She enjoys riding horses with her friends, jogging, walking dogs, reading, and any outside activity, as well as practicing veterinary medicine part-time. She and her husband enjoy sharing the farm with two horses, four dogs, a cat, and too many cows and calves.

Tonia is the Office Manager and has been with our practice since 2007. She enjoys her family and spending time on the family farm where she raises Angus cattle with her husband Barry. Tonia’s pet family includes a German Shepherd (Chief) and Pollie, a Shih Tzu. She enjoys gardening, decorating and shopping in her free time.

Paige has been working with animals for over 10 years. Her first job was in a veterinary clinic and she has stayed in the field ever since. Paige has a large pet family which includes a bearded dragon (Queso), an Australian Shepherd (Baron), and 2 cats (Ruby and Barney). Outside the office, Paige enjoys being very involved in the Children’s Ministry at Versailles Baptist Church and spending time with her family. She and her husband Brian have 2 beautiful daughters, Evie and Bonny and an adorable son, Isaiah.

Nikki has been a technician at Crossroads for almost seven years. Her amazing work ethic and attention to detail are just two things that make Nikki such an outstanding tech. She is also incredibly patient and understanding with our patients that are fearful or anxious when they come visit us. In her free time she enjoys watching movies, reading, and traveling. Nikki has a daughter, Madi and an orange tabby cat, Harry. 

Madeline has been a technician at Crossroads since 2019. She has always loved animals and has been intrigued with medicine since she was little, so she decided to meld the 2 and start working in veterinary medicine. She is great at client communication and making all our clients and patients feel as if they’re family when they come to visit us. We also love Madeline for her wacky humor and sass, which makes the work day anything but ordinary around here. Madeline has two dogs, Sadie and Henry, as well as three cats, Luci, Hattie, and Rosie.

Boo has been working with us since 2019 and is a graduate from Eastern Kentucky University. Boo is one of the sweetest people you will meet with a desire to help all animals in need. She has a German Shepherd named Koda and a dilute calico named Jovie. We love this girl's kind heart.

Amanda has worked in the veterinary field since 1998 in not only Kentucky, but also Washington State. Amanda has a veterinary assistant degree from The School of Animal Science, Professional Career Development Institute. She is also certified as a Fear Free Veterinary Professional, as well as a Hill's Certified Veterinary Nutritional Advocate. Amanda and her husband live in the country with their 2 Australian Shepherds, Ava and Hops.
